About myself.
My name is Aly Hawana. And I am a storyteller. I’m a Graphic Designer and a New Yorker that’s passionate about art and media, as they have been a large part of my life growing up. I always had an affinity for media and all that it encompasses; gaming, comics, television, movies, and the trends and pop culture that accompanies it. Basically all things entertainment that has been a driving force of creativity in our lives and how it affects and moves us. I’ve jokingly been called a hype-man by many of my peers since I often super enthusiastic on upcoming content hitting the entertainment world.
I went to Art & Design High School and that was the springboard that made me want to get into the field of art. I attended New York City College of Technology, graduating with a BA in Communication Design and I attended Hunter College to work on a 2nd BA in Film & Media to expand my knowledge with Media Design and Web Production.
I was a Video Production Artist where I've handled video editing and video production for Massive Incorporated that worked directly with Xbox. I was also a Presentation Designer for WarnerMedia and a Senior Presentation Designer for Warner Bros. Discovery, working with a Design Team as part of Ad Sales where we worked on a large array of projects, from activations to large-scale presentations, to promotional graphic pieces, to even collateral and packaging.
My focus lies in the story-telling aspect of the industry; advertising, graphic design and multimedia. I'm well-versed and adaptable and strive to put in my best work. Various tools under my belt include most of the Adobe Suite; Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Flash/Animate, Bridge, Dreamweaver, and Microsoft programs including PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint. I'm tech savvy and open to exploring new programs and tools as the industry changes. Learn. Adapt. Overcome.
What's in a name?
Spindash has been my internet handle as a gamer for many years through both social and gaming spaces. It is a signature move by a certain spikey blue hedgehog who was influential for me becoming an artist growing up (I originally aimed to be a comic artist as you may notice from my illustrations!). It invokes the feeling of movement, energy and spirit, all characteristics I resonate with.
